Can the Innovate LC-2 read NTK wideband sensors?
No. The LC-2 is designed for the Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband sensor. An NTK sensor will only work if it is a direct LSU 4.9-compatible replacement. For two sensors (left and right bank) you need two LC-2 controllers.
Will an O2 sensor extender/spacer (e.g. Innovate HBX-1) clear a P0420 code after installing a downpipe?
We don't recommend it as a solution for modern cars. The reliable way to deal with catalyst efficiency codes after exhaust modifications is to have the ECU checked and remapped by a professional tuner. Check local regulations about emissions equipment first.
Can you supply small NOS nitrous jets (e.g. funnel jets .008–.011)?
Yes, NOS jets and spare parts can be ordered; small sizes are usually supplied within a few weeks.
Is the Innovate LC-2 compatible with my older ECU (e.g. VW Digifant)?
If your ECU has a 0–5 V input or a narrowband O2 sensor input, you can use the LC-2 without problems; it offers two programmable analog outputs (one can simulate a narrowband sensor).
I bought a Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor for my Innovate LM-2 but the plug is different. Is there an adapter?
Your LM-2 was set up for the older Bosch LSU 4.2. There is no adapter. To use the LSU 4.9 you need (1) a firmware update of the LM-2 to support the 4.9 and (2) the LSU 4.9 sensor cable (Innovate 3887). Alternatively, return the 4.9 sensor and we will exchange it for a 4.2.
I need a wideband gauge that also provides a narrowband signal for my ECU (e.g. old Mini SPi). What do you recommend?
The Innovate solutions fit perfectly: either the MTX-L Plus gauge kit or the LC-2 controller with a DB-Blue gauge. Both display the wideband AFR and at the same time provide a simulated narrowband output for the factory ECU.
Can I use the Innovate LM-2 with Windows, see live data on my PC and log OBDII channels?
Yes to all. The included Innovate software (LogWorks/LM Programmer) runs on Windows (32- and 64-bit). You can view data live on the PC, and the LM-2 can log OBDII channels, but when logging many OBDII channels the sample rate is slow because of the OBDII protocol speed.
How can I log several sensors (AFR, temperatures, pressures, RPM) on a laptop?
The Innovate Motorsports modular system is the simplest solution. The basic parts are the LM-2 wideband meter (SKU 3806), the TC-4 Plus 4-channel thermocouple amplifier for EGT/temperatures (SKU 3915) and the SSI-4 Plus 4-channel interface for 0–5 V sensors such as pressure sensors and RPM (SKU 3914). All devices daisy-chain together and the free Innovate software records, displays and analyses the data on a computer. Depending on your sensors you may need extra connection wires.
Can I buy a replacement temperature sensor for the Innovate MTX-U oil pressure & temp gauge kit (3852)?
Yes, the temperature sensor is available separately as a spare part.
Is the Innovate MTS serial protocol documented?
Yes. Innovate publishes the "Serial Protocol 2" (MTS) document, which applies to the whole Innovate product line and lets you decode AFR, EGT, boost and other channels in your own software. Ask us and we will send it.
Can I log an AC or negative-going sensor signal (e.g. inductive RPM sensor on a diesel pump) with Innovate LM-2 analog inputs?
Innovate analog inputs read 0–5 V DC. You can connect such a signal, but add a diode on the input so only the positive half of the signal is read; otherwise the negative voltage may cause wrong readings.
Do you have a compact wideband controller board I can integrate into my own system?
The Innovate LC-2 without sensor (3881) is a compact wideband controller for the Bosch LSU 4.9 with analog outputs and serial (MTS) communication, making it easy to integrate into a main controller.
How do I change my Innovate MTX-L Plus to display Lambda instead of AFR?
The display units are set with the Innovate LM Programmer software. You need to power the gauge and connect it to your computer, which requires a USB-to-serial adapter/cable for the Innovate serial port. If you have difficulty, we can do an online session (Teams/Google Meet) to program the gauge with you.
I only want to check whether my carburettor is running lean or rich. Do I need the LM-2?
No. The LM-2 is mainly for logging during real driving. If you only need to check the mixture from time to time to adjust the jets, an MTX-L Plus wideband gauge is enough and more affordable.
The 8-pin Molex connector of my Innovate LC-2 won't plug in or latch. What is wrong?
This is a known issue on some recent Innovate connectors: one or more pins inside the connector housing are not seated in their correct position. Push the pins back into position (a small pick helps) until they are aligned, then the plug will seat and latch. We have a short video showing the fix; ask us and we will send it.
My Innovate LC-2 shows error code 8 and recalibration doesn't help. What does it mean?
Error 8 on the LC-2 indicates a sensor-related fault, usually a failed O2 sensor. Wideband sensors are race-use wear parts and are not covered by warranty; the most common cause of early failure is the installation position (condensation, sensor mounted pointing down or too close to the exhaust port, running the engine before the controller is powered). Send us a photo of the sensor installed on the exhaust and we will help you avoid it happening again. We can offer a replacement sensor at a better price.
My Innovate LC-2 keeps blinking and never finishes warming up the sensor. How do I troubleshoot it?
Try this sequence: (1) power the LC-2 on without the sensor connected for 10–30 seconds, (2) power off and connect the sensor, (3) power on and let it heat up and auto-calibrate. Also check that all pins of the sensor-cable connector are straight. If the warm-up still stops (e.g. LogWorks shows warm-up stuck at ~20%) with a known-good sensor and cable, the controller is faulty and should be returned for replacement.
My Innovate MTX-L shows "22.1", "CAL", "Htr" all the time, or freezes. What does it mean?
"22.1" constantly usually means the sensor reads free air/very lean, or it is not connected or calibrated; "Htr"/"CAL" constantly means the sensor heater cycle or calibration never completes. First check power and ground, the sensor cable pins, and try a known-good LSU 4.9 sensor. If the gauge still freezes, shows the same code with a good sensor, or doesn't power up, it is faulty; send it to us for testing and warranty replacement.
What is the exact free-air calibration procedure for Innovate wideband controllers?
Follow the timing exactly: (1) power on without the sensor connected for about one minute; (2) power off; (3) connect the sensor, out of the exhaust in free air, and power on for about one minute until calibration completes; (4) power off; (5) install the sensor in the exhaust and power on. Skipping the waiting times is a common reason for calibration failures.
I replaced my wideband O2 sensor and now the readings are wrong. Why?
After installing a new sensor you must perform the free-air calibration procedure (on Innovate devices this is mandatory; AEM X-Series are plug-and-play). Calibrate with the sensor out of the exhaust in free air before installing it.
