AEM Electronics – Gauges

The O2 sensor in my AEM 30-4110 kit has no Bosch logo. Is it genuine?
Yes. AEM has supplied the 30-4110 with this sensor for more than 5 years. It is a 100% original Bosch LSU 4.9 oxygen sensor in its OEM version, which is why there is no logo on the sensor body. You can find the Bosch part number and logo on the sensor's connector.
The AEM 30-4900 boost and wideband gauge is obsolete. What is the alternative?
The Innovate PSB-1 PowerSafe Boost and Wideband O2 gauge kit (SKU 3892) offers the equivalent function.
My gauge arrived with damaged wiring/insulation. What are my options?
Contact us with photos. Depending on the case we offer: (a) a replacement unit, (b) a refund, or (c) if you prefer to keep and test the product and it works, we cover it with the normal 2-year warranty and give you a discount on your next order.
How do I claim a replacement for a faulty AEM wideband O2 sensor?
If your claim is accepted, we do not need the sensor back. We ask you to: (1) write a code we give you (e.g. "R2021") on the sensor with a marker, (2) take a photo, (3) destroy the sensor (cut the wires or break it) and (4) take a second photo. Send us both photos and we will ship you a new sensor. This saves you the cost and time of returning the part.
The analog output of my AEM X-Series wideband (30-0300) reads incorrectly, no matter which sensor is connected. Is it faulty?
AEM has confirmed a known issue with a previous production batch. If the analog output reads incorrectly regardless of the sensor, the gauge is covered by warranty and will be replaced.
My AEM wideband shows "HEATER" then dashes (----) and the buttons don't respond. When I unplug the sensor the buttons work. What should I do?
This points to a sensor or gauge fault. Pack the gauge and the sensor together and return them to the shop where you bought them for testing. You can leave the wiring harness in the car.
How do I connect several AEM X-Series wideband controllers (30-0310) to one AEMnet CAN gauge?
You can run up to 8 X-Series widebands on one AEMnet gauge. You don't need a CAN hub (although you may use one): connect all CAN+ wires together and all CAN– wires together. Set a different CAN ID on each controller following the procedure in the 30-0310 manual.
Is a replacement sensor available for my AEM FailSafe AFR gauge?
Yes. The AEM FailSafe gauge uses the Bosch wideband UEGO sensor 30-2001, available as a replacement.
What is the difference between the AEM 30-0333 and 30-0334 wideband gauges?
The 30-0333 is obsolete; only the 30-0334 is available. The 30-0334 measures AFR with its own wideband sensor and adds that value to the vehicle's OBDII network, so other OBDII scanners or loggers can read it as a separate value. Make sure this is the function you need before ordering.
What replaced the AEM Tru-Boost controller 30-4350?
The AEM X-Series Tru-BoostX (30-0352) supersedes the 30-4350. It sits in the slim X-Series gauge housing, its onboard MAP sensor handles up to 80 psi of boost, programming is done via the gauge buttons like the original, and it adds AEMnet CAN output for use with AEM dashes.
My AEM oil pressure gauge shows "SEnS" and the analog output is stuck at ~0.5 V although oil pressure is normal. What's wrong?
The pressure sensor is worn or failed and needs to be replaced. Under warranty we send a replacement sensor; we may ask for the faulty sensor back.
My AEM X-Series gauges have different LED brightness. Is one defective?
No. All units have the same electronics. On some batches AEM installed two diffuser film layers in front of the LEDs instead of one, making the display dimmer and the segments look like dots in the dark. We can send you a replacement diffuser film so all your gauges look the same.
My AEM gauge shows a code (e.g. "0400") and then the display turns off. What should I check?
Power the gauge with the sensor cable disconnected and see how it behaves. This tells us whether the problem is in the gauge itself or in the sensor/harness. Also check that the gauge has a stable 12 V switched supply and a good ground. Send us the result (a short video helps) so we can advise on repair or replacement.
My AEM X-Series temperature gauge shows a wrong or unstable reading in cold weather. Is it faulty?
Not necessarily. The temperature sensor is designed for the normal operating range and generally reads accurately from about 40°C and upwards, so readings on a cold engine in near-zero ambient temperatures can be off. If the reading is still wrong when the engine is at operating temperature, send us the complete kit (gauge and sensor) so we can test them together.
Can I buy only the AEM X-Series gauge without the sensor?
No, AEM X-Series gauges are sold as complete kits (gauge + sensor + harness). For example, for a 15 psi sensor (30-2131-15G) the matching kit is the X-Series 15 psi boost/fuel pressure gauge 30-0309.
My AEM X-Series gauge only shows PSI. How do I get the bar faceplate?
The faceplate is double-sided: the bar scale is printed on the other side of the PSI faceplate. Open the bezel, flip the faceplate and set the gauge units to bar in the gauge settings.
I want an AEM digital dash for a car with a factory ECU (e.g. BMW E46 M3, Siemens ECU). What do I need?
With a factory ECU that the dash cannot read directly, you need not only the display but also the sensors you want to monitor, connected to the dash inputs or to AEM CAN modules. For example, to monitor AFR you need an AEM 30-0310 wideband controller.
