Algunas motocicletas tienen límite de velocidad. Estas bicicletas suelen ser de Alemania. El límite de velocidad suele ser de 80 km/h. El límite de velocidad se realiza con la unidad de encendido. Hay sensor de velocidad conectado a la unidad de encendido. La unidad de encendido detiene la ignición cuando la velocidad medida excede los 80 km/h. Eliminar el sensor de velocidad no evitará el limitador de velocidad. Sin velocidad de la señal de la unidad de encendido limita la velocidad del motor.
