Aeromotive Phantom Series: 2005-2017 GM Truck Direct Drop-In
Aeromotive Phantom Series: 2005-2017 GM Truck Direct Drop-In
Installation â The system is based on the Phantom design where the customer will install the pumps at the correct depth for their particular tank. The outlet cap is what makes it unique from the Phantom. The outlet cap is a direct replacement for the factory sending unit outlet cap. The new cap consists of 4 â ORB -8 female ports (main pump, auxiliary pump, return, and vent), as well as three sets of electrical terminals (main pump positive and negative, auxiliary pump positive and negative, and level sender signal and ground). The outlet ports exit horizontally and are in the same configuration as a Trifekta. The outlet cap will come assembled with all the wiring pigtails and hoses attached. The hoses are left long and will be cut to length by the customer in order to be set at the correct depth. The pump hanger brackets will be cut to length as well. All of the pump configurations use the triple pump hanger rod and spacer that is used in the Trifekta. Depending on what pump configuration is ordered, one or two pump locations on the spacer can be left empty. This also leaves room for upgrades in the future if the customer decides they need more or larger pumps. The large sized foam (8.50â€) is used on all these applications, it installs the same way as the original Phantom, cut the foam 1.00†longer than the tank depth when measured at the original sending unit hole location. The customer will use the factory fuel sending unit lock ring and gasket to retain the new pump assembly in the tank. The lock ring can be reused, but they must use a new factory replacement o-ring (not included). Plumbing the system will be the same as the other traditional Phantom configurations. The system will require heavier wiring to power the pumps; the factory fuel pump wire cannot be used to power the new Aeromotive pumps. The system does not use any of the factory vent, emissions, or tank pressure sensor. The engine tuner/customer will need to delete these functions from the factory ecu (if used). Float Level Sensor â At this time we are not including a float level sensor or bracket with the pump assembly. This is due to the variations of float level sensors and how they mount to the factory sending unit assembly. If someone has purchased an aftermarket sending unit assembly, the float level sensor may mount in a different way than the OEM version. Until we can either source a universal sending unit with the correct ohm range or find a mounting solution for each of the factory sending unit types, we will not be including a bracket for the sending unit. We do have preliminary design for the Silverado’s, Sierra’s and Trailblazer SS that seem to be very consistent among all of the sending units that we have seen so far. If someone calls with one of these applications we can build them the correct bracket for a factory sending unit. The bottom of the outlet cap will have two wires soldered for the level sender that the customer can use to connect (with provided quick disconnect connectors), to their factory sending unit. The bottom of the outlet cap does have a set of 10-24 screw holes for a sending unit bracket, either supplied by Aeromotive or if the customer would like to make their own. If we can offer a sending unit bracket for the particular application, the customer will need to cut a “window†in the foam to allow the sending unit bracket to pass through and position the fuel level sensor outside of the foam. To install the system with a sending unit bracket, the fuel level sensor and bracket are first inserted through the “window†in the foam and left loose. Next, the pump assembly is inserted in the factory sending unit hole loosely. Next, plug in the two wires from the factory sending unit to the two (white) pigtail wires attached to the bottom of the outlet cap. Once the sending unit wires are plugged in, you can attach the sending unit bracket to the bottom of the outlet cap with 2 â 10-24 screws. Finally, push the entire assembly into the (once a new gasket or o-ring is installed), and secure with the factory lock ring.
